Ben Ali Clowns Unit started out as a unit of the Cibara Shrine Club in the 60’s and then on august 15, 1977 under Past Potentate Frank B. Plummer was granted a Charter as a Temple Unit, with thirty six members. The charter officers were President, Rod W. Hunt, Vice President, D. Edward Entrican, Secretary, Tal Norwood and Treasurer, Robert McCarney Sr. Our purpose is to advance and promote the interests of Ben Ali Temple and Ben Ali clowns by participation in parades, ceremonials and other activities of the unit and the Temple. On January 27, 1978 Ben Ali Clowns became charter members of the Western Shrine Clown association in Reno, NV. WSCA conventions have been very rewarding for Ben Ali Clowns as they have received a large number of awards in the clowns Competitions each year.
We as Clowns are always in demand to participate in parades and charitable events. We’ve traveled to Susanville – Rodeo and Parade, Chester on Labor Day and Yerrington, Nevada – Lyon County Rodeo and Parade, Carson City of the Nevada Day’s, Pismo Beach – Clam Bake, Grant Pass, Oregon – Shrine Circus.
